Around this time of year, before I become busy with high school senior and family portraits, I love to take some time to focus on younger teens with my Season to Bloom program. These sessions are all about capturing the style, personality, and interests of 5th through 9th graders. This time in their lives can be confusing, awkward, or just plain challenging, so it's important to take some time to recognize all the amazing qualities that make them who they are. Hopefully, they get a little self-esteem boost as well!
Last year I was honored to do an StB Session with Emily. It was bitter cold but the snow, trees, and light in her backyard were too beautiful to pass up a few outside images. We also captured a few of her interests like cupcakes, soccer, and nail polish, right in the comfort of her own super cute bedroom.
Before our session, I asked Emily's mom to tell me a bit about her, and this is what she had to say:
"She's loving, compassionate, strong, and fiercely independent. She stands up for what she believes in. I've seen her be an incredible friend and sister-she's quick to defend the ones she loves even if it means getting in trouble herself...I know that I've raised this amazing girl who will one day change the world. I am so proud to be her mother and I know that I not only have a daughter, but a best friend for life."
How wonderful is that?!?
